The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. As part of its #CureStigma campaign, NAMI created a quiz for individuals to determine how stigma may have impacted their perception of mental illness.
Research has indicated that one of the greatest obstacles in the way of people receiving treatment for mental illness is stigma. According to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), only 41% of adults in the U.S. with mental health conditions received mental health services in a year. It is estimated that stigma prevents the 1 in 5 adults with mental health conditions from accessing help.
